Testicular Cancer – Treatment

Transcript

When the cancer has spread outside of the testicle, the next step in treatment depends on the global category of the testicular tumor, whether it falls in the seminoma category or non seminoma category, and whether or not it has spread to the lymph nodes of the abdomen or other solid organs in the body. A combination of chemotherapy, sometimes radiation therapy and sometimes surgery to remove all of the lymph nodes in the abdomen may be required. This is where an individualized approach with your team of doctors is crucial. They’ll take into account your tumor type, the stage, the location of the cancer deposits and the category of tumor, whether it’s sensitive to chemotherapy or radiation, to develop a plan that’s customized to your testicular cancer. Again, the overall big picture is that cure rates are extremely high. Testicular cancer is a success story, most of the time.
