Tuberculosis starts as a lung infection known as pulmonary tuberculosis, but may also involve other parts of the body, especially the lymph nodes, brain, and bones. And these all are called extra pulmonary tuberculosis. And these may be present either with or without pulmonary TB. Tuberculosis can also be active or inactive, and inactive tuberculosis is known as latent tuberculosis and cannot be spread to other persons in the same way that active tuberculosis can.
