Urinary tract infections can be easily treated with antibiotics. However, if it isn’t treated, then this type of infection can lead to a more serious condition like a kidney infection, also known as pyelonephritis. Repeated episodes of pyelonephritis can actually cause scarring of the kidneys. So you don’t want to have untreated UTIs that consistently turn into pyelonephritis.
