What is a varicocele? It’s a very common question. So a varicocele is essentially varicose veins of the testicles. The testicles like to live within a narrow temperature range. And when you get varicose veins, blood pools in the veins of the testicles and it increases the temperature. So what does that do? It decreases the sperm quality. How do we address this? Generally speaking, the best way of addressing it is through a microsurgical procedure where we go in there and we ligate those small vessels, those small veins, and in doing so, prevent that pooling of blood around the testicle, and this increases your sperm counts.
