Transcript

In order to prepare for your vasectomy, the first thing is to have proper consent. This is a thorough discussion with your provider about the risks and benefits of a vasectomy. Having a vasectomy should not be a rushed decision. It should be carefully considered as it’s meant to be permanent. Preparing for the day of your procedure, you should make sure that you’re not on any blood thinning medications. This includes minor painkillers like Advil or ibuprofen. You should shower and clean the scrotum, and you should ask your provider whether they would prefer you to shave the hair off of the area, or if they’re going to do it themselves on the day of the procedure. You should make sure that you’re wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing, and that you have a ride home.
