It’s very important to understand that vasectomy does not provide immediate protection against pregnancy. In fact, there are still viable or living sperm inside the tube and the reproductive tract immediately after a vasectomy. Typically your doctor will require at least three months to have passed and at least 20 ejaculations and a confirmatory semen analysis to make sure no sperm are present before giving you the green light that sexual activity for the prevention of pregnancy is possible.
