Some of the conditions that can mimic narcissistic personality disorder can be a person with borderline personality disorder, a person with antisocial personality disorder, people that have substance abuse disorder can also mimic a person that has a narcissistic personality disorder. And the concern is that maybe the person may have both, may be suffering from both disorders. Hence the severity of this disorder, because when people are feeling bad about themselves, and that is the essence of the individual with narcissistic personality disorder, is that they will try to heal, try to treat themselves. And the way that they do this is by either engaging in behavior that can be deleterious to their long-term ability to function.
