Guillaume Dumont, MD, MBA

Dr. Guillaume Dumont is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist. He specializes in the treatment of hip, shoulder, and knee injuries is a member of the clinical faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is an expert in hip arthroscopy and the treatment of hip injuries in young, active individuals. His clinical research focuses on the improved understanding and treatment of conditions of the hip, including femoroacetabular impingement, labral injuries, gluteal tendon injuries, and hamstring injuries. He serves as an orthopaedic consultant for hip injuries to various schools and treats athletes of all levels. Dr. Dumont understands the challenges that many patients experience while seeking answers, diagnoses and treatments, and uses an individualized approach to ensure patients understand the injuries and the options available to them. He values the importance of honest discussions about surgical outcomes, risks, and alternatives.

Dr. Dumont regularly teaches and presents research at regional, national and international orthopaedic surgery conferences. He is a peer reviewer for multiple orthopaedic journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, The Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, the The Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery, and is a reviewer and member of the Editorial Board for the journal Arthroscopy. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA).

In addition to his clinical and academic endeavors, Dr. Dumont has a keen interest and involvement in the development of early and growth stage companies. Paul Scheinberg, MD

Pulmonology

• Recently retired pulmonologist with nearly 40 years’ clinical practice experience in pulmonary and critical care medicine, clinical research, focused interest in lung cancer screening for early detection, and many years in Medical Staff Leadership

Dr. Paul Scheinberg is the Founding Partner of Atlanta Pulmonary Group, a Private Practice comprised of eight physicians Board Certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and/or Sleep Medicine, which was acquired by The Emory Clinic in 2013. He has been actively engaged in the practice of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta since 1979. Dr. Scheinberg recently served as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and was responsible for guiding safety and quality initiatives in conjunction with his colleagues at the other Emory University Hospitals. He had previously held positions of Chief of the Medical Staff, Chairman, Department of Medicine, and Chief of the Pulmonology Section. He has been an active member of the Ethics Committee of Saint Joseph’s Hospital and has held leadership positions in Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy Departments. He continued to serve on Physician Peer Review as well as Patient Safety and Quality Committee of the Board among other hospital committees.

In prior years, Dr. Scheinberg had been directing Clinical Research efforts at APG. He has served as Principal Investigator in numerous studies involving Chronic Lung Disease (COPD), Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis, Pneumonia and Bronchiectasis as well as sleep disorders and smoking cessation. APG had also undertaken inpatient research studies involving new drug therapies for Sepsis and Nosocomial, Ventilator Associated, and Community Acquired Pneumonia. He was Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program and Principal Investigator in several preclinical studies in conjunction with Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) and St. Joseph’s Translational Research Institute (SJTRI). He was also Principal Investigator in two Lung Cancer Screening Trials and continues to participate in the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP).

Dr. Scheinberg was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and attended the well known Science Magnet Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan before earning a BS in Biology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He returned to New York, attending State University of New York Downstate Medical Center where he earned his M.D. after which he migrated south to Atlanta where he completed two years of internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital of Emory University. He then served three years in the United States Navy as a Flight Surgeon, including operational deployments with his squadron to the Middle East, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Following his military stint, he returned to Emory University in Atlanta where he completed a Chief Residency in Medicine at Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory University Hospital-Midtown) and Fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases. He entered Private Practice at Saint Joseph’s Hospital at that time.

Dr. Scheinberg is married and has three sons of whom he is very proud. In his precious spare time he enjoys family and travel.

Nathan Merriman, MD

Gastroenterology

Dr. Nathan Merriman is a Gastroenterology Physician who has joined our Doctorpedia team as a Founding Medical Partner and as one of the Chief Medical Officers for our Gut Health Channel.  Dr. Merriman grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia, attended Brown University for college, and completed his medical school training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  He then moved to Philadelphia with his wife where they both finished their residency and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, his wife is a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician.  He and his wife have been in medical practice for over 12 years.

Dr. Merriman has integrated his own experiences as a patient, parent, and physician in his approach to working with patients, their families, and other clinicians as teammates in patient-centered health.  He has a strong interest in colon cancer prevention as well as esophageal motility and reflux treatment.  He believes in human centered design in healthcare with continually improving the experience of healthcare for both clinicians and patients.  Dr. Merriman sees Doctorpedia as a teammate in health for patients by helping to provide accurate health information to patients and enabling and empowering patients to learn more about their symptoms, illnesses, and medical evaluation and treatment options and bring these ideas to their clinical care teammates to work together on their care plan design.

Nate, his wife Jen, their four children, Kaitlin, Brooke, Ryan, and Tyler, and their family dog Bailey live in Utah where they enjoy hiking, skiing, and traveling as a family.

Ruchi Garg, MD

Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Garg is dedicated to the treatment of gynecologic malignancies, working closely with all gynecologic cancers including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar, vaginal, gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. Interested in the full scope of a gynecologic oncology practice, Dr. Garg also has a strong interest in genetics and prevention of cancers. Dr. Garg uses evidence-based medicine and personalized treatment options to meet the needs of each unique patient. When appropriate, Dr. Garg is a strong believer in minimally invasive approach and enhanced recovery for patients.

Dr. Garg completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida as part of the six-year Honors program in medicine and received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Garg graduated with a research distinction and was named the Best Obstetrics and Gynecology student. She completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, where she won multiple awards for research. Dr. Garg also completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and again received a Young Investigator’s Award.

Dr. Garg has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, Assistant Professor of Medical Education at University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, VA, Assistant Clinical Professor at the George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Garg is a member of several medical organizations including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and International Gynecologic Cancer Society. Dr. Garg also serves on multiple national committees for both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society of Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Garg has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Gynecologic Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, International Journal of Gynecologic Cancers, and Journal of Infectious Disease. She has also presented abstracts in conferences for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, International Gynecologic Cancer Society, Society for Neuroscience, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the International Papillomavirus Conference. Dr. Garg has also authored several book chapters.

Dr. Garg has also won several awards for her outstanding professional work including Arlington Top Doctors, Northern Virginia Top Doctors, Virginia Top Doctors, Washington’s Top Doctors, America’s Most Honored Professionals, the Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine award, and was recently spotlighted on the cover of Washingtonian Top Doctors.

Thomas J. McDonagh Jr. MD

Pediatrics

Dr. McDonagh graduated as a member of AOA from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and then served an additional year as Chief Resident. He has practiced in the Huntington, New York community as a General Pediatrician for thirty years. His clinical interests include pediatric weight management, concussion management, and treatment of pediatric behavioral health disorders. He has actively participated in educating medical students at the Zucker School of Medicine as a pediatric preceptor and site director in the Initial Clinical Experience course. While Chief of Pediatrics at Huntington Hospital, he was instrumental in helping to launch a pediatric emergency room service. Outside of his ‘day job’, Dr. McDonagh has been engaged in many community activities, including coaching many youth baseball and basketball teams, serving on the Board for Haven House (an organization that assists battered women), Co Chair of the Child Care Council of Suffolk Health Committee and as a Trustee and President of the Harborfields Central School District Board of Education.
