Personal Statement

The majority of my time has been devoted to academic medicine, teaching anesthesia and regional anesthesia, and research related to clinical anesthesia. I spend fifty percent of my effort in the teaching and clinical arena.  I dedicate the remaining fifty percent of my time to clinical research, writing, publishing, and administrative duties.

After finishing my fellowship in regional anesthesia, I have remained focused on this field through various endeavors. Specifically, I participated as faculty at several local and international workshops in order to teach residents and anesthesiologists a variety of regional techniques. I have also lectured about regional anesthesia at various national and international conferences. Additionally, I have been a regional anesthesia instructor at the Harvard Anesthesia Update conference for the past several years. Moreover, I am part of the BWH plastic surgery transplant team where I apply regional anesthesia techniques in order to improve the care and outcomes of these patients.

I have been involved in the regional anesthesia fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I am also part of the core perioperative intensive care ultrasound (PICUS) group. PICUS is one of the very few ultrasound curriculums in the country to teach residents ultrasonography and its applications during their 3-year anesthesia residency. In addition to regional anesthesia, I have focused my clinical work on ambulatory anesthesia. I was selected to serve on the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA) Committees on International Relations and Education. In 2016, I had the opportunity to present the very first Spanish webinar for SAMBA on regional anesthesia. I am an active member of the committee in ambulatory anesthesia for the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

In 2014, I was appointed to improve the anesthesia care for Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. I subsequently authored a paper publishing our experience after implementing the guidelines for more than 3000 patients.  In 2015, I completed a Certificate in Business Administration with the American Society of Anesthesiology to strengthen my administrative skills. Finally, I have served as a reviewer for the Anesthesia and Analgesia journal and Pain Medicine Journal. Currently I am the Chief of Anesthesia at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear. In this role I have been working on several process improvement projects involving operating room efficiency, patient satisfaction, and communication. I am a fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (FASA) a recognition for those members who have dedicated time to education, leadership roles and advancing the field of anesthesia.

  • CMO of the Doctorpedia's Dental Channel, Strategic Advisory Board Member, and Founding Medical Partner

Dr. Mann graduated the University of Georgia in 2002 and proceeded to the Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry where he graduated in 2007.  During his tenure at the Medical College of Georgia, he had the opportunity to attend 3 medical mission trips to help the underserved in Ecuador, Peru and Mexico in providing dental services.  Following graduation, he concentrated his focus in IV sedations and dental implant surgery thru further training.  After 4 years of practicing in a group practice, Dr. Mann decided to build Providence Dental Spa in middle Georgia.  He wanted to bring the concierge experience to dentistry by offering a “spa-like environment.”  During the development of Providence Dental Spa, several services were added to augment the dental practice which included but not limited to: Botox for TMJ therapy, Oral appliances for Sleep Apnea and Surgical implant placements for full mouth reconstructions. His founding practice has grown from a 3 operatory practice to a 21 operatory practice.

While still operating his private practice, he was sought out by numerous dental/medical companies to assist them in course/program development as well as lecturing on materials developed that resulted in becoming Key Opinion Leaders for several of those companies.  In 2018, Dr. Mann co-founded a company that was placing dental offices within Walmart Supercenters in the Southeast of the United States.  During the development of a statewide and then regional roll out plan, he was approached by Walmart to assist them in the design, development and operational side of Dentistry for what is now known as Walmart Health.  Along with his team, they played a crucial role in patient care for the initial sites.  Dallas, Ga Walmart Health was the first national Walmart Health facility developed in 2019.  The Healthcare facility was developed as a multi-specialty facility that housed more than just dental.  Its original development was to allow the patient to have a true collaborative care visit by visiting multiple specialties should the patient require it.

Joshua Mansour, MD

Oncology

Joshua Mansour, MD

Oncology

Joshua Mansour MD, is a graduate from Vanderbilt University where he completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Spanish and was a Chancellor Scholar.  After graduating, he spent a brief time in finance, but missed the continued patient interaction he had developed and had grown to love.  He had spent many years volunteering in health care prior, in such activities as volunteer interpreter at an underserved clinic, and as student advisor at Camp Okawehna for children suffering from renal failure, among other hospitals and clinics.  It was also during that time he co-founded Greatest Gift Inc, a non-profit organization aimed at helping spread awareness about organ donation, that continues throughout medical schools and communities across the country today.  This desire to be at the forefront of patient care continue to echo stronger.  He wanted to continue to help patients as they battled a variety of illnesses and offer support during their weakest moments and therefore enrolled and attended Ross University School of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree.

Upon graduation, Dr. Mansour pursued an Internal Medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University.  He chose to specialize in IM because an Internist plays a vital role as the patient advocate, engaging with an array of specialists and medical teams, to manage the progress of each patient.  During his time in residency he dedicated much of his time to patient care and research where he helped implement clinic trials and phase one studies with their cancer center, help write grant proposals for continued research, and took on the role as a clinical investigator.  He has written several abstracts, journal publications in major medical journals, and given oral presentations on his work.  Throughout this time, he continued to volunteer throughout the community, using his fluency in Spanish, to help the underserved Latina community in Augusta, mentor medical students and residents with the American College of Physicians, and serve on the AIBM committee to help analyze and develop teaching goals for an improved board pass rate among colleagues.  He was awarded a superior resident achievement award and went on to the Medical University of South Carolina to do a fellowship in hematology and oncology and pursue his passion.

While at the Medical University of South Carolina he continued to mentor others through various organizations nationally and locally as well as work with medical students at campuses on Greatest Gift. He worked closely with the Hematologic Malignancies Department and Bone Marrow Transplant Centers of each institution developing further research, and writing abstracts and publications, which compelled him to further immerse himself in the dynamic field of bone marrow transplantation.  Here he was also named Chief Fellow for the 2017 – 2018 year.

After completion of that fellowship, Dr. Mansour then became board certified in both Hematology and Oncology, in addition to medicine previously, and went on to Stanford University to pursue yet another fellowship in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy. He works on halting the patients’ disease process with early intervention and consolidated effort to give them the best chance for survival.  With the numerous new medical trials and innovative cellular immunotherapies, the progress has been significant and continues to evolve at an accelerated rate the last few years. Dr. Mansour hopes to continue to expand on his involvement in patient care and clinical research throughout the community.  With the rapid advancement of cellular immunotherapy and CAR-T cell therapy, he would like to utilize the knowledge and experience he has gained to help patients with disease refractory to initial therapy.  The interpersonal, academic and research aspects of bone marrow transplantation and cellular immunotherapy continues to fascinate Dr. Mansour and he hopes to make significant contributions to the field of hematology/oncology and the scientific community as a whole.
