Dr. Amit Mehta is a double board-certified interventional pain management physician who grew up in the Chicagoland area. He graduated cum laude with distinction from the University of Illinois in 1999, and went on to pursue his medical education at Rush University in the city. Following that, he spent four years at Northwestern University completing his anesthesiology training. Dr. Mehta relocated to New York for his fellowship, where he completed his interventional pain management fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. He returned to Chicago, where he was a co-founder and managing partner at Premier Pain Specialists for 10 years with 7 Chicagoland locations. His goal is to provide interventional and multi-modal treatment options to patients with acute and chronic pain, while improving functionality and providing hope for all of his patients. Dr. Mena Mesiha is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon trained in general orthopedics, with specialized fellowship training in problems affecting the shoulder.

Dr. Mesiha is a graduate of Cornell University and received his Doctorate in Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by additional training in the Harvard Shoulder Fellowship at the Mass General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals. During his residency, Dr. Mesiha studied the biomechanics of rotator cuff tears and the biology of rotator cuff healing. He uses this knowledge of the science of rotator cuff disease to help him counsel patients on when it is appropriate to avoid surgery and to maximize their benefits from surgery when it is necessary. He has also studied the importance of component positioning in shoulder replacement surgery and is currently using state-of-the-art 3-D printing technology to plan his shoulder replacement procedures. Dr. Mesiha is considered by U.S. News & World Report to be an experienced, high-volume surgeon for both rotator cuff repairs and shoulder replacement procedures.

In addition to his commitment to keeping up with the latest techniques in shoulder surgery, Dr. Mesiha is committed to informing his patients in detail about their nonsurgical treatment options. Dr. Sanan has been with the Center for Neurosciences since 1999.
