Dr. Paul Scheinberg is the Founding Partner of Atlanta Pulmonary Group, a Private Practice comprised of eight physicians Board Certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and/or Sleep Medicine, which was acquired by The Emory Clinic in 2013. He has been actively engaged in the practice of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta since 1979. Dr. Scheinberg recently served as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and was responsible for guiding safety and quality initiatives in conjunction with his colleagues at the other Emory University Hospitals. He had previously held positions of Chief of the Medical Staff, Chairman, Department of Medicine, and Chief of the Pulmonology Section. He has been an active member of the Ethics Committee of Saint Joseph’s Hospital and has held leadership positions in Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy Departments. He continued to serve on Physician Peer Review as well as Patient Safety and Quality Committee of the Board among other hospital committees.

In prior years, Dr. Scheinberg had been directing Clinical Research efforts at APG. He has served as Principal Investigator in numerous studies involving Chronic Lung Disease (COPD), Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis, Pneumonia and Bronchiectasis as well as sleep disorders and smoking cessation. APG had also undertaken inpatient research studies involving new drug therapies for Sepsis and Nosocomial, Ventilator Associated, and Community Acquired Pneumonia. He was Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program and Principal Investigator in several preclinical studies in conjunction with Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) and St. Joseph’s Translational Research Institute (SJTRI). He was also Principal Investigator in two Lung Cancer Screening Trials and continues to participate in the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP).

Dr. Scheinberg was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and attended the well known Science Magnet Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan before earning a BS in Biology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He returned to New York, attending State University of New York Downstate Medical Center where he earned his M.D. after which he migrated south to Atlanta where he completed two years of internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital of Emory University. He then served three years in the United States Navy as a Flight Surgeon, including operational deployments with his squadron to the Middle East, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Following his military stint, he returned to Emory University in Atlanta where he completed a Chief Residency in Medicine at Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory University Hospital-Midtown) and Fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases. He entered Private Practice at Saint Joseph’s Hospital at that time. Dr. Scheinberg is married and has three sons of whom he is very proud. In his precious spare time, he enjoys family and travel.

Personal Statement

‍My passion towards medicine started very early in my undergraduate school when I witnessed the sufferings of one of my close family members who had rheumatoid arthritis. I always wished I could alleviate her sufferings. During my residency training I was fortunate to work with a rheumatologist who was not only a great clinician but also a very kind human being. This led to my deep passion for rheumatology. Rheumatology is fascinating due to the fact that it could affect any organs in our body. It allows me to think of a patient as a whole rather than one particular organ. I strongly believe in patient empowerment, where the patient should play an active role in their care and every decision making process. Hence patient education should be a key aspect of clinical practice. That’s one of the key reasons why I am involved in Doctorpedia.

Torres began practicing Obstetrics Medicine at Carson Medical Group shortly after graduating from University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in 2014. His residency was at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas.

​Prior to joining Carson Medical Group’s practice, Dr. Torres dedicated his time mentoring college kids advising them on their medical direction. “My passion is education”, he says. “I want to see kids succeed by helping them acquire a great education”.

Dr. Tsui is a board-certified internist practicing in the Las Vegas valley. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida, she completed her medical degree at Touro University – California. Dr. Tsui is a triple board-certified pulmonary and critical care physician practicing in the Las Vegas valley. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis and his medical degree at Touro University – California.  He was drawn to critical care medicine early in his internal medicine residency in Las Vegas. He completed pulmonary and critical care fellowship after his chief resident year. Dr. Tsui serves as the Medical Director of a multi-specialty intensive care unit. Shawndeep S. Tung, MD, was born and raised in Southern California, but ventured overseas to complete his medical education in Poland. In Texas, Dr. Tung completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He went on to complete a General Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center on New York’s long Island and then decided to focus on a career in breast oncology. His fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology was at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.

Dr. Bhumi Upadhyay was born in India but raised in the Orlando area. She was one of 30 students per year to be accepted into a 6-year combined Undergraduate/Medical Degree Program at University of Miami. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She moved to Michigan since her husband was doing an ER residency in Detroit. Dr. Upadhyay moved back to Florida after residency and worked part-time for 5 years with 2 young children. In 2005, she opened her own solo practice in St. Petersburg, FL. While practicing, she was writing medical articles for a local magazine, Families On the Go. In addition, she would join the local hospital lactation support groups to offer guidance to new mothers. Over the last 16 years, her practice grew to be a 3-physician practice and well-known and well-respected in the community. Dr. Upadhyay was nominated and offered a position on the Medical Staff Board of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital as the Community Physician Representative. She also participated in the Johns Hopkins Residency Program as a site for primary care rotation. She recently was asked to be on the PET (Project Executive Team) Board for the creation of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). Dr. Upadhyay is passionate about patient/parent education. She centers her practice around making sure patients and parents are well educated and fully aware of disease processes and plans. In her free time, Dr. Upadhyay likes to travel specially to places with hiking trails. She enjoys a variety of workouts like CrossFit and Peloton. She is also a huge Tampa Bay Lightning fan. Dr. Van Deusen grew up in Utica, New York. He attended Binghamton University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and graduated summa cum laude. He then went on to attend the College of Medicine at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. While there, he became actively involved in otolaryngology research, publishing and presenting research at national conferences. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and graduated from medical school with honors. From there, he headed south to Nashville, Tennessee and completed his residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery. Since finishing training, Dr. Van Deusen has relocated to the North Atlanta, Georgia suburbs where he practices the full scope of general otolaryngology, with a special interest in sinus disease, environmental allergies, chronic ear disease, and pediatric ear, nose, and throat procedures.

Dr. Thomas E. Waggoner, DO, FACC, FSCAI, FSVM, RPVI is a Structural Interventional Cardiologist as well as a Vascular Specialist with Pima Heart & Vascular who specializes in coronary artery disease, heart valve disorders, and vascular disease. He is medical director of the structural heart disease program, program director for the new structural heart disease fellowship and medical director of the cardiovascular research program at TMC. He is the principle investigator in multiple ongoing clinical research studies as we as a national physician proctor for many of the latest complex trans-catheter cardiac devices. He was selected as a young leader in Vision 2020 to lead in the field as a young interventional cardiologist. He has performed many first-in-patient cardiac device implants in Southern Arizona and is a leading structural interventional cardiologist in the region.

A proud Ohio native, Dr. Waggoner graduated from medical school at The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, was chief medicine resident at Seton Hall University and chief cardiology fellow at Northside Hospital in Florida. He did his Interventional cardiology, Structural Heart and Endovascular training at Deborah Heart and Lung Institute in New Jersey.

S. Blake Wallace, M.D. was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He then graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University in 2011 and completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Wallace then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at University of Texas Southwestern and Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas followed by an orthopedic foot and ankle surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Wallace is dedicated to providing a personalized treatment plan to every patient with foot and ankle conditions. This treatment could involve simple changes to shoe-wear or lifestyle, physical therapy, injections, or surgery. Through residency, he worked in the busiest emergency department in the United States and gained invaluable experience caring for severely injured trauma patients. During his time at one of the top orthopedic foot and ankle fellowships, he honed his skills in caring for the highly active patients in the Denver metroplex, including many elite athletes. This included advanced training in total ankle replacement, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and accelerated rehabilitation protocols.

Dr. Wallace participates in medical research, and he has published articles and book chapters on numerous topics including ankle arthritis, sports related injuries, and bunions. He is an active member in the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Dr. Wallace and his wife, Allison, have three young boys. In his off-time, Dr. Wallace enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, hunting, fishing, and staying active in their church community.

Dr, Caroline Webber is originally from Orlando, Florida where she graduated from Trinity Preparatory School. She was later given “A Distinguished Alumni” award for her many professional achievements. After high school, Dr. Webber attended Emory University where her predilection for science led her to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. She stayed in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry.Dr. Webber went on to proudly serve her country, in the US Navy. During this time, she completed an Advanced Clinical Program in Exodontics, and Wisdom Teeth removal.  This was followed by a hospital-based residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 4 years. She had various duty stations, including a tour with the Marines in Japan, and shipboard for 2 years deploying to the Middle East. Serving and living overseas Dr. Webber furthered her appreciation and respect of diverse cultures.  Dr. Webber had the unique distinction of serving as the prestigious Specialty Advisor to the Surgeon General for Navy Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.Devoted to the education of future doctors, Dr. Webber was a faculty member at Portsmouth Naval Medical Hospital, where she taught many residents.  Additionally, she served on the orthognathic, tumor, and implant board, and was Director of Resident research.
