What happens if you decide not to pursue any treatment options? What would happen to a patient with aortic stenosis if it was left untreated? Well, you would have worsening symptoms and worsening quality of life. You would have chances of developing heart failure, shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, leg swelling, weight gain, and an overall reduction in quality of life. Typically, if you have severe aortic stenosis, your lifestyle is expected to decline within a year. If you are found to have severe aortic stenosis, it’s important to weigh all your treatment options with your cardiologist and determine what the best option is for you.
