Spinal Nerve Decompression Surgery – Prevention

Transcript

There are ways to reduce stresses on the lower back in order to prevent the need for nerve decompression surgery. For example, if a person loses weight or maintains an active exercise program, if they’re watching their ergonomics in the workplace and using proper lifting techniques when picking objects off the floor. Quitting smoking can help mitigate damage to discs as well. There is no simple solution for prevention. Spinal problems occur through a multifactorial process. Meaning there are a wide variety of factors that play a role in the development of these conditions. A person’s genetics, health, lifestyle, jobs, et cetera. We have no control over our genetics. However, we can all try to address areas that we have control over. Results will not be immediate, but we can help improve the condition over time.
