Appetite and nutrition are considered a part of palliative care. If you’re finding that your appetite is too low and you’ve always enjoyed eating, then there are medications that we can give to boost your appetite, especially if it’s something you socially enjoy with your family around you. We really want you to be vocal about the things that are important to you to do in your day to day life as you control your disease. That is the whole purpose of treating a stage four cancer, is to really enable you to maximize and get every bit of your good days so that you can enjoy with your family and feel good. But the only way those things can happen are with recognition of those problems. So please be vocal. And if you need, you can request a palliative care consult as there are specialists that are trained to really help all of those additional surrounding factors involved with cancer and with chemo to help support your symptoms and your mood the best.
