Any of the concerning symptoms that I mentioned above should lead to a pelvic exam. This includes a rectal / vaginal exam and a general physical that should be performed. If the exam is abnormal, or if there is abnormal vaginal bleeding, this should all be evaluated with a biopsy. Biopsy of the lining of the uterus, also known as endometrial biopsy. And ultrasound, which should be trans vaginal, should also be performed. A DNC, dilation and curettage, is a procedure that is done with or without the use of a camera or a hysteroscope, is also a standard of management. If endometrial cancer is suspected or diagnosed, it is important to seek care from a gynecologic oncologist like myself. A gynecologic oncologist is a medical doctor with specialized training in treating gynecologic cancers. We can manage your care from diagnosis to the completion of the treatment.
