Talkspace is a mobile app that helps people with mental health issues by matching them with a licensed therapist for virtual counseling. Users can communicate with their matched therapist via text, audio, or video from the comforts of their own homes. Spokesperson and Olympian Michael Phelps admitted to struggling with anxiety and depression most of his life until he engaged in therapy and began using the Talkspace app to feel stronger and propel him to greatness. The app offers the assistance of over 3,000 licensed therapists for battling symptoms of anxiety and depression.
When using Talkspace, you first take an assessment to determine your individual needs. The app then offers ‘Unlimited Messaging Therapy’ starting at $49 per week. The app even seeks to help adolescents through the ‘Talkspace for Teens’ section. If relationship problems are your biggest obstacle, take advantage of ‘Couples Therapy’ offered by Talkspace for $79 per week.
“The app offers the assistance of over 3,000 licensed therapists for battling symptoms of anxiety and depression.“
Therapy has proven to offer many benefits and breakthroughs in emotional progress. However, if you lead a busy life, scheduling can conflict with your daily obligations. With Talkspace, you can message your carefully matched therapist at anytime during your day to stay on your schedule.
Talkspace isn’t limited to adults. Talkspace for Teens recognizes the need for therapy in teenagers to promote growth and teach effective exercises for managing their symptoms. Since it also offers unlimited messaging, it won’t conflict with school or after-school obligations in interested adolescents.
After some time together, many couples come across differences that can’t be handled on their own. While couples therapy can greatly benefit both parties, personal obligations usually get in the way. The Couples Therapy section of Talkspace lets you seek progress while not ignoring your other responsibilities.

This is quite different from all the other stress apps that I use. With this one, the app does not leave the onus of tracking your progress on you rather, it works toward informing you of any improvements and changes in your healing journey. Such an app allows people to continually understand whether their mental health is progressing or deteriorating. It works quite effectively.
Ensures that individuals' progress is tracked, accordingly
It is not a free app

This app is a great idea! It's having therapy without having to go to (and pay full whack for) actual therapy. Having struggled with depression for sometime this app has helped me a lot, I have connected to a therapist and have progressed well so far. It's one of the few apps that I will happily pay for because it's something tangible that I'm getting, and it is helping me in a real way. It's also helps with anxiety, teens adolescent and relationships.
Easy to use and very helpful.
I don't get immediate answers depending on when I reach out to my therapist and may have to wait a few hours for them to respond.

This app looks amazingly helpful - it matches you with the right therapist, it tracks your progress, you can book live session and the video is clear. what is the most relevant to me is that they also have special services for couples therapy which my partner willing agreed to participate in - something he has never done before.
Cheaper if you compare with the in-person therapy.
You have to pay to get service.

Talkspace is worth the money IMO, but you have to have realistic expectations of what you are going to get for your money. don't think your counselor will be on the end of the phone waiting to call you back immediately. but generally, therapy for depression and anxiety can be complicated with the scheduled sessions where you might need to travel to various centers, and it can be suuuuper expensive in real life. This isn't exactly cheap but still cheaper than real therapy! This app allows you to access services on the go at price that is very decent. It could also be useful to the youth who don't want to go via their parents, and anyone who might want to get therapy services discreetly. But when you message your therapist it might take them close to a whole day to respond.
Great idea - can be really valuable support when someone is struggling. Therapist I used was also really good but I can't speak for all of them, maybe I got lucky or maybe they are all good.
3 main cons: 1) it's fairly expensive, 2) I have to wait for my therapist to respond, 3) my app has frozen several times

Wow omg, nothing like an easy to use therapy and exercise progress app. The videos are very helpful and clear quality videos to watch. Love the different features to choose from.
You can be anonymous for as long as you want to and still receive the help that you need.
$65 a week is a lot to pay for this app, however it is still cheaper than going to therapy and allows for unlimited messaging to the therapist.

For those who not familiar with seeing/ speaking with a therapist and want to get their feet wet in getting started, I recommend this app. I was once timid of speaking with a therapist. But I’ve been to a few sessions and when I cannot make it to a session – this app helps to get things out that is deep inside.
Easy to navigate and allows you to progress.
Not many really. App is easy to navigate, user friendly so I didn't have any problems with it.

Talkspace is definitely my type of app. I think therapy is best done in the hands of an actual therapist, which Talkspace has. The app allows you to speak directly to someone, and try to build a plan to relieve stress and anxiety that way. There are various exercise you could do on your own, like focusing, overcoming worry, breathing exercises, etc. But the therapist you work with create a plan in the app tailored to you. It’s great!
I enjoy the one-on-one interaction the best. I also like the short exercises. My favorite part is the personalized plan that gets created.
Might be too personable... You have to want to open up... Some people might get uncomfortable talking to another person, and would rather use one of the other anxiety apps.

It's a great idea. The app matches you with a therapist and you can send them messages, ask for advice and get responses. It's a great idea and I kind of expected the responses to feel canned and automated but it doesn't feel that way at all. I've actually found it really helpful and during times when I'm super anxious and really need to get advice / reach out to someone, it's been there. I can't speak for every therapist on there, but I know that mine makes me feel seen and appreciated.
Having a therapist on your phone is an awesome idea, and mine is thought and present. For those of us who need the support and someone to be there for them, this is a very useful app.
You do have to wait for your therapist to get back to you - it isn't instant because they obviously aren't waiting on the other end of the phone at all times - but I always get a response, a few times a day, just might have to wait a little.

This app is simply the most advanced way of connecting to people for guidance. With this app you can connect to over 2500 professional therapists who are qualified to give appropriate guidance relating to your problems.
It’s the best app to get help from if you have the phobia of seeing therapists in person.
No cons so far.

I found this app really helpful because I feel so strong and proud of myself for getting through depression and anxiety. The app matched me with a great therapist after doing an assessment and the therapist has been of great help to me throughout my journey. The app has different sections for teens too so it's really great for teenagers who are going through a lot.
It has nice different sections so it serves all people of ages.

Talkspace app is really helpful. Through this app you can get therapy lessons from different therapists who are really good at what they do. It's also the best place to get help if you have any kind of problems be it anxiety, depression, relationship, marriage, adolescence, teen problems and many more. All you have to do is select in the app the whatever you need help with and subscribe. Having done all that you are good to go!

I found this app quite intimidating and not that easy to use and that can largely be attributed to my anxiety, I am not sure. For some reason, the conversations made me nervous and the questions were not clear enough for me to know how to answer. It also really made me anxious waiting for answers .
The concept of the app is a good one, which from my perspective is its only redeemable feature. Even then, the execution is quite poor. I really, really wanted to like this app but I do not. Maybe if the developers took a second look at it, maybe, just maybe, it might be worth it someday.
Right off the bat after installation my matching agent was already talking about upgrading and what not. Maybe I missed it but this app just seems to be interested in taking your money. It did not give me a good feeling to proceed.

Talk space is a good app and a good way to start therapy if your nervous about therapy. It is easier to commit since it is on the phone. Nothing you can say will make you feel bad since it is all over the phone.
Overall Comment
The patient navigator was very warm and friendly and can assist in finding you an appropriate therapist for your background and needs. I did find the pace of the therapy discussions a bit slow - it seemed as if I was just speaking with a friend via text - but then again this allows those who do not want such a committed therapy relationship to utilize the services as needed. Having access to an outlet that allows you to speak with an objective person without bias can be extremely helpful, though I do feel this cannot fully replace the in-person relationship/experience of therapy.
