Youper is an emotional health assistant powered by AI. It claims that it can help you feel less anxious, less stressed and less blue. The app offers features such as basic conversations to uplift your day, guided personal meditations and a tracker to allow you to monitor your moods and emotional health.
Youper isn’t just an app created with hopeful intentions, it also has clinical support. Youper uses research methods across every U.S. state to determine factors that influence behaviors and ultimately make people happier. The app even uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help people achieve their goals.
“Youper uses research methods across every U.S. state to determine factors that influence behaviors and ultimately make people happier.”
If you’re skeptical about how well Youper actually works, they provide extensive data to ease your concerns. According to the app, average length of a conversation with Youper to make a positive change is only 7 minutes. Furthermore they have data that indicates using the app only once a week reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Youper employs an original method of using an ‘Emotional Health Atlas’ to discover the most common emotions in different states across the U.S. You can search the atlas by emotions (ie. happiness), gender, job status, and timeframe (i.e. last 60 days).
Multiple assessments are also utilized to determine emotional influences. The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) measures depressive symptoms, while the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) assesses how frequently anxious thoughts occur and the severity of these thoughts. Youper also uses the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) to assess the extent of social anxiety symptoms.

I’ve had issues with communicating with friends and people about life. This app has allowed me to find a way to communicate and get things out that I needed to get out. SUCH A RELIEF IN LIFE!!! ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW.
You have your own coach at your finger tips. Which is pretty cool.
Some of the responses can feel repetitive but they are still helpful.

Youper is a really fun app. It gives you an AI bot that you could chat with about your problems and any number of topics. While it’s not a real human, it does provide a key plan for fixing your issues, whatever they are. The key to this app is answering the questions and expressing how you feel. The bot then goes and provides analytical and intelligent feedback about those things. There are also reports so you could see your progress.
The bot is actually very comedic. It feels like you are talking to a real person. The insight they offer is also very professional and intelligent.
The bot cannot talk to you like an ordinary person could, so. If you mention something you like, for example, they won’t be able to speak in depth about it. It more just guides you through ordinary psychological issues in a textbook format almost.

I have stress and anxiety problems. This app has over 1 million downloads- so figured it was well worth a try. It basically markets itself as an 'emotional assistant' which is a pretty novel concept. Firstly, I love the whole chat option... I generally don't like to talk to my friends or family about my stress and depression so I really appreciate this feature. It has so far been a really calming and therapeutic force in my life, and I'm actually sorry I didn't know about this years ago. The colors within the app also make for a nice looking tool.
Basically all of it - the fact that there's 'someone' to talk to when I need it, that I can get advice, that my thoughts can kind of be transferred into a journal form so that I can go back and see them later. It's a brilliant idea and I appreciate this app big time.
It costs $12.99 a month to access the premium features. Still way less than one therapy session, but I'm a fan of free things!

It has an emotion tracker to help control your emotions and figure out if you are getting better or worse.

Just like the name of the app, this app is all about YOU. It entails taking care of yourself first. It has lots of tips and information on how to monitor yourself and how to converse with yourself so that you don't get into bad moods or experience anxiety. It's your monitor I can say.

Youper acts as your emotional assistant through the day, helping you feel at your best during your entire journey. The app works as a chat, as if you’re talking to another person, which feels good and kind of intimate. After going through the first phase of selecting several feelings you might have, it will give you different suggestions for things that might help a specific feeling. For example: happiness is found through being by yourself, with a partner, or through exercise and meditation. Probably the best app for people who struggle with anxiety and depression.
It's amazing to have an emotional assistant without having to make yourself vulnerable to someone in real life.

This is a very simple app that is great for people who have no one to talk to or those who feel uncomfortable talking to other people about their 'issues'. Basically you have a coach, obviously a bot, that engages you in conversations meant to help you identify your mood and work through it to feel better.
The fact that I know my coach is an AI really puts me at ease and helps me open up about the things that are truly bothering me. Something that may be harder to achieve with a real person because of fear of judgement. The solutions suggested in the chats are practical, which is a great selling point for me. It doesn't matter to me how smart or elegant something sounds, unless it works and the suggestions work.
Like most app these days, you need to upgrade to get full benefits! Sometimes answers can start to feel repetitive. Also, I would have liked it if you could name the bot whatever you wanted instead of having to stick to the one name eventhough its a fun name.

This is a useful app for me. I have friends to talk to but sometimes they don't know what to say. With youper I was able to describe my feelings and not get lost in my words and I felt very validated while using the chat.
The ability to express myself and my feelings clearly is so valuable.
Overall Comment
This is a really, really interesting and unique app - you basically have an AI friend. And as a result of this, Youper it definitely helps in relieving stress, depression and anxiety. It acts as a personal assistant and even though its a bot it chats like you are having conversations with another person. I think it's an amazing idea and I actually find it really therapeutic, but for someone who is really isolated or lonely it could be a literal lifesaver.

This app is the best when you don't want to talk to a real person. It is helping through feeling down with depression and i imagine for others it's a lifesaver.
