Allergic Rhinitis & Conjunctivitis – Risk Factors

share

Transcript

Symptoms of allergic rhinitis occur before the age of 20 in 80% of cases and occur before adolescence the majority of the time. The genes that trigger allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis are shared with those that trigger asthma, eczema and food allergies. If you, your parents or siblings have any of these conditions, you might have a genetic predisposition and a higher risk for getting allergic rhinitis or conjunctivitis. Studies have also suggested an increased risk for having allergic rhinitis in affluent socioeconomic classes, minorities, areas with heavy outdoor air pollution, obesity, and being born during a high pollen season.
