Ambulatory Anesthesia – Conclusion

After surgery, you might expect some mild sore throat or a little bit of pain around the surgical site. And we’ll give you a prescription for breakthrough pain after you are discharged home. Usually Tylenol or short acting pain medications are enough. When you go home, you may be tired for the following 24 hours, depending on the type of anesthesia and the surgical technique that you had. If a peripheral nerve block was performed, you may expect the block to start recovering within six to eight hours after the injection. We ask you during that time not to use your extremities and be very mindful not to move them as you can get injured. Usually ambulatory surgery is a fast, coordinated process. And before we discharge you, we send you home, we’re gonna make sure that you’re able to take care of yourself with the help of a companion.
