Transcript

You may need to have blood transfusions if you have blood loss anemia, which develops in a short period of time, such as from surgery, injury, or gastrointestinal bleeding. You may need to have blood transfusions if you are symptomatic from your anemia, meaning if you feel tired, lightheaded, dizzy, chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, et cetera. Your doctor will decide if you need a blood transfusion based on the cause of your anemia and the symptoms you have. Talk to your doctor if you’re concerned about having anemia. Your doctor will do the appropriate evaluation to determine what condition you have and the best course of action for you.
