- Are you a Doctor?
Following up with your doctor after diagnosis of atrial fibrillation really depends on the patient, it depends on how symptomatic you are, and it depends on what medications you’re taking because some medications require more frequent follow-up than others. For example, we talked about warfarin requiring blood draws frequently. Also some of the antiarrhythmic medications, which are the medications given for atrial fibrillation to keep patients in a normal rhythm, can also require monitoring of other labs to include your liver function or your kidney function. So you should see your doctor and determine how frequently you should be seen for your atrial fibrillation taking all of these things into account.
