A birthmark is a lump, a patch or a spot that’s different from other normal skin. It’s typically present at birth, but it can develop any time in the first year of life. Birthmarks very widely in color. They can be tan, brown, black, red, pink, or blue. When you first notice a birthmark, it’s important to get in touch with your pediatrician so they can identify what type it is and if it requires immediate treatment or monitoring.
