So one common mistake that I see a lot or hear from patients a lot is, what’s the difference between breast augmentation and breast reconstruction? Breast augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that focuses on adding volume to a native breast, whereas breast reconstruction focuses on rebuilding a breast that’s either been partially or completely removed. Lumpectomy or partial removal of your breast can be reconstructed with a oncoplastic reduction or lift, which we’ll get into further later. The mastectomy or removal of your breast is where we reconstruct the breast after everything has been removed during a mastectomy procedure.
