Chemotherapy – Cyclophosphamide

So cyclophosphamide is an alkylator chemotherapy. We’ve been using alkylators for many years because it’s effective in several tumor types. The thing about cytoxin is it’s going to cause your bone marrow to not be able to produce the amount of counts that it needs over time, much like other chemotherapies. This is why we continue to get labs during the course of your treatment. Cytoxin can be given though IV, but there is also an oral form. It can cause fatigue over time as well. Some of the things unique to cytoxin and one that we consider a very big warning is you are at risk for a secondary cancer in the future, specifically AML or acute leukemia, as well as bladder cancer.
