Additionally, paclitaxel can actually have a lot of effects on the heart, not a heart attack per se, as much, but more so on how is the heart pumping? Is it pumping too fast, too slow? Is your heart rate getting slowed down too much? If you have a cardiac history, it’s important to let your doctor know what that entails, especially if you have an arrhythmia or problems with pacing your heart properly. When talking about cardiac history specifically if you had a heart attack within the last six months, if you’re on digoxin for heart rate control, or if you’re even on a calcium channel blocker for your blood pressure, these are things you want to make your physician aware about so that we can watch a little bit more closely as you get more doses of paclitaxel.
