Colon Cancer – Tattooing

share

Transcript

So when a tumor is found, the gastroenterologist or the surgeon may actually inject a tattoo ink, often India ink, into your colon so that when the surgeon goes in through your abdomen, they can actually see where the tumor is. Sometimes the tumors aren’t very obvious. And so we can’t really identify where they are in the colon. Where this ink, it’s usually black will show up when we look in either laparoscopically open or robotically to locate or find where these tumors are.
