Transcript

In refractory disease, meaning if all medications fail, there is the option for surgical treatment. This would involve what's called an LVAD or a ventricular assist device. Also commonly known as an artificial heart that can help blood pump through your body despite your weak heart. This is usually used as a bridge to transplant.
