In some patients, particularly in patients on certain medications, it’s really important to get continued monitoring. Warfarin has very narrow therapeutic window and requires monitoring of the blood levels to try to make sure that the patient is not too high or too low in terms of the therapeutic levels. Warfarin can also have other potential risks, as do some of the other medications. And if the patient is about to get pregnant, it’s really important to go back to the clinician and discuss whether ongoing therapy with the particular agent is appropriate.
