Transcript

There are procedural treatments for patients with DVT PE that are being employed. Nowadays, for patients with very high burden of clot, we can do injection or infusion of thrombolytics, which are clot busters, locally into the pulmonary arteries. We can also use what we call thrombectomy devices to try to break down the clot and pull it out as much as possible from the pulmonary circulation, which is thought to reduce the risk of long term complication of what we call chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
