Because distal radius fractures are so common, affecting about 2% of all of the fractures we see, there is a lot of research in treatment of these fractures. Newer methods of fixation using smaller and smaller implants, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and even non-operative treatment options are all being devised and tested. And there are numerous publications every year on new ways to treat distal radius fractures.
