Eye disease affects millions of Americans every year. Most often, those patients that are currently suffering from chronic inflammatory systemic diseases will suffer from aqueous deficiency type of dry eye. Evaporative type of dry eye it is a known fact when we stare at the screen, our blink rate reduces by 75%. With that being said, there is a lack of oils then that are expressed to lubricate the surface of the eye and stop the evaporation of the aqueous that is produced by the lacrimal gland. Dry eye is a multifactorial disease of tears and ocular surface. The two most common types of dry eye is aqueous deficiency, which is lack of production of aqueous by the lacrimal gland, and evaporative dry eye, which is disease of the oil glands that produce oil to lubricate the surface of the eye.
