Transcript

The most dangerous type of withdrawal is from alcohol or benzodiazepines. In some cases, people will have seizures or hallucinations, which put them at risk for serious complications, including death. You may need to be admitted to the hospital with alcohol withdrawal. Other drugs have withdrawal syndromes, but are at little risk or no risk of causing death. It may feel like you’re going to die with the symptoms you experience, but you’re at little to no risk of death. The symptoms of withdrawal from opioids like heroin or oxycodone make you feel like you’re going to die, but very rarely result in death. Stimulants like meth, cocaine, and nicotine make you feel like you need them, but often have less severe symptoms of withdrawal.
