Emergency Room – Heart Attack

Transcript

Just because today’s test results do not indicate a heart attack, that does not mean you are guaranteed to never have one at some time in the future. Perhaps even in the near future. Sometimes brief episodes of pain can be a warning sign, but the EKG and the heart enzyme tests don’t reveal heart damage. If you have any of the following symptoms, come back to the ER immediately, either with someone driving you or by ambulance. Please don’t drive yourself. The symptoms that you should come back for include crushing pain or pressure, worsening pain, especially with physical stress, inability to catch your breath, sweating or vomiting that goes along with your pain and a general increase of your symptoms. When you come back in, the emergency team will repeat some of the tests you just had and may recommend an overnight stay that includes a cardiac stress test.
