Emergency Room – Stitches and Antibiotic Ointment

Transcript

It’s a good idea to keep the stitches and staples covered with an antibiotic ointment. This keeps the wound moist and reduces infection. The cut could be left open to the air if it is not in danger of getting dirt on it, but should be covered with a dressing or bandage if there is a risk of getting dirty. As a reminder, glue and Steri-Strips shouldn’t be covered in ointment because it will dissolve.
