What are the medical conditions that could cause erectile dysfunction? As we discussed earlier, there’s so many things that could go towards having a good erection. Good, healthy, nervous system, a good healthy vascular system, good hormones, good overall health… Anytime there’s an issue along any portion or any aspects of that, it may lead to having poor erections. And like I said earlier, ED could be the first sign of poor overall health. And that’s why evaluation when you have erectile dysfunction is important, especially if you’re young. That’s the time where you can see a physician, get evaluated, find the cause and ultimately find a good treatment for yourself. When thinking about the medications that can cause erectile dysfunction, it’s really any medication that could throw off the elements that cause and produce a good erection. So these include things such as spironolactone, a medication that lowers your testosterone level. Another one is the antihypertensive medications, such as beta blockers. Those could really affect your erectile function. And finally, anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, especially the tricyclic antidepressants, those could really negatively impact your erectile function.
