There are many risks involved with any type of surgery that a plastic surgeon might perform, but specific to facial paralysis surgery there can be risks with bleeding or infection or problems with the anesthetic itself. In addition, sometimes scars can be unfavorable or there may still be some asymmetry that persists. Sometimes the amount of contraction can not be as much as what the normal state is. So there’s a lot of different potential small risks, but manageable risks.
