You can decrease your risk of having a heart attack by up to 80% by implementing some simple lifestyle changes. We say eating a heart healthy diet. These are usually foods that are rich in micronutrients. In grains and olive oil. We recommend the Mediterranean diet that has actually been studied recently and it showed to improve your heart health. We recommend increasing your physical activity. The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes a week of moderate physical activity and 75 minutes a week of a vigorous physical activity. We say quit smoking if you smoke. Smoking overall is bad for your health. And we say alcohol in moderation. For a woman that’s one glass of wine a day, a five ounce glass of wine a day or one beer a day. You want to maintain a healthy weight. And if you have other risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol, you should make sure you see your doctor on a regular basis and get these ailments controlled.
