Innocent Heart Murmurs – Overview

Let’s talk about innocent heart murmurs for a minute. These murmurs occur as a result of something external to the heart. Most of the time, the heart is completely normal, but there’s an external force that’s acting on the heart that’s causing murmurs. These include pregnancy, anemia, thyroid disease, adolescence and rapid growth, dehydration, medication side effects. These all can cause a heart murmur, but it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with the heart and would thus mean there’s no significance or there’s nothing necessary to follow up on.
