Is there anything that you can do to keep your back pain from getting worse? The big answer is stay active, stay active. Think about that another minute. Stay active. That’s what’s important. That staying active and don’t stop, turn around and stop doing because the more you do, the better you’ll be. And it’s easy to say, but those who are couch potatoes don’t do well. Things don’t do well in the human body without any stress. People who overstress ultramarathoners, not good for the human body, but that middle group of medium amounts of activity and exercise, those are good things. And I have many patients who come in and say, well, you know, I just get done with work and I’m tired. And when we really look at it, a lot of times it’s not so strenuous. They might be a landscaper, in which case, okay, you’re digging ditches all day, putting in irrigation pipe, that might be pretty strenuous. But the most of it really isn’t where people have that true sweat inducing exercise, which is what they need. And they’re fair number of studies scientifically that show that three, four times a week, five times a week, half hour, 45 minutes. Those are good things. We talked about losing weight, although it’s not sure fire. Definitely stopping smoking may or may not help, but it’s certainly a good thing to do, but that’s really it. So let me say that one more time. Stay active.
