What is menorrhagia? Well, the medical term or definition is having bleeding more than 80 milliliters in a menstrual cycle or lasting more than seven days. No one actually adds up and weighs to see how much they bleed. So in reality, the seven days is practical, but the 80 milliliters is not really that practical. So really what you want to look at is if you’re having to change your menstrual pad or tampon more than every two to three hours, less frequent or more frequent than that. And or if you’re having accidents in your clothes, it’s disrupting your quality of life. You’re having accidents in the bed and things like that. That’s where you want to be concerned. And like I said, if it’s longer than seven days, that’s also something to be concerned about.
