Myopia – Mechanism

November 2, 2021

So the problem with myopia, and that’s why we’re being so proactive to treat the children with myopia, is one of the eyes will grow longer. It doesn’t really have their ability to stretch out that much, which results in thinning of the retina on the inside of the eyeball and cause retinal tears, retinal detachments… With that being said, when the eyeball grows longer, the sclera, which is the white part of the eye that coats the eye, is thinning. And with that, it is becoming less robust and resistant to glaucoma down the road.
