We’re really not sure what causes Parkinson’s disease. There are some cases that happen absolutely spontaneously. They are the first and only members of the family with this disease. On the other hand, it can also run in families. So if you have a family member with it, you may be more likely to get it. And on top of that, there are some cases that were linked to specific genes. The current school of thought is that it is a combination of genetic and environmental factors, which include things such as exposure to pesticides, head injury, and even where you live.
