Pelvic pain can be caused by any number of conditions in the pelvis, but very common it’s a constellation of many organs in the pelvis that are contributing to the pain. So for diagnosing pelvic pain, it’s really important to see your doctor and to have a thorough examination and to have some tests, to make sure that there are no specific conditions like a sexually transmitted infection, which could be causing a pelvic inflammatory disease leading to pelvic pain, making sure there’s no bladder infections. So ruling out urinary tract infection, making sure there’s no bowel related causes like constipation or irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease. So diagnosing pelvic pain can be very complicated, but you definitely need to consult with your doctor and very likely have referral to other specialties who can investigate the various potential pelvic organs that may be involved in causing the pain.
