Transcript

When you think about Peyronie’s disease treatment options, the first one, generally we start people off at the medications, the oral medications, and what these typically do is they help stop the progression of that plaque formation and hopefully stop the progression of that curvature and that tethering. If that doesn’t work for guys or that the curvature is so severe where it’s not really an option to do the oral medications, we move on to the next one. What that is, it’s essentially intralesional injections. What we do is, there’s various medications, one of which is the only FDA approved medication for this out right now, it’s called Xiaflex or collagenase. What that does, you inject an enzyme that helps break up that collagen and it helps release those bonds that tether and curve the penis. And in doing so over the course of months, sometimes even years, that curvature will slowly, slowly start to improve.
