As far as risk factors for pheochromocytoma, about 40% are familial. Meaning they’re passed down from family member to family member because of an abnormal gene diseases like Von Hippel-Lindau and multiple endocrine neoplasia type two are frequently associated with the development of pheochromocytomas of the adrenal gland.
