Viral drugs are really prescribed for influenza, which is a common form of pneumonia. These antiviral drugs don’t necessarily work for other types of viral pneumonia. But for instance, if you have a viral pneumonia or you have influenza and you’re not getting better, you’d want to think that you may have a superimposed bacterial infection, and this would be something to call your doctor if you’re not recovering as well as you think.
