In terms of follow-up or monitoring, there are many options that may be available to you. Future monitoring is definitely needed because babies that are born early is not considered to be ideal. And the goal is always to prevent preterm labor from happening. Depending on when babies are born, there are certain parts of the baby that may not be fully formed, or certain organ systems that may not be fully formed. So by being in the hospital, a physician can prevent some of the signs or symptoms of preterm labor. And if they’re unable to, being in the right setting to deliver early is really important for the baby’s longterm outcomes.
