There are some risk factors that can lead you to be more likely to experience preterm labor. Stress has been associated with feeling contractions earlier than usual. Although some people wonder why certain women may have preterm labor more than others. Certain lifestyle factors such as tobacco use and drug use can lead to women to experience signs of preterm labor earlier than other women. Women who have had an infection while pregnant can also lead to having preterm labor in some particular women. Other risk factors include women who are African-American, who are a teenager, or at older ages when they become pregnant.
