Certain complications can result from Priapism. Generally speaking, blood that’s full of oxygen is what keeps our body parts alive and healthy. So if blood that is low in oxygen is trapped inside the penis for hours on end tissue destruction or tissue death can occur. And this in turn leads to scar tissue formation and it disrupts the whole erection machinery mechanism. It can damage a man’s ability to achieve a healthy erection. This is why it’s incredibly important to bring priapism to the attention of a doctor as soon as possible.
