Some of the risk factors for a reading impairment, if somebody in your family had dyslexia or reading disability, it’s highly likely that they will have a child or somebody in the family will also have a reading problem. We see these a lot in family studies. The other part too, is that there are twin studies going on. And so that’s how we know the research in terms of the family association for reading disabilities. There are twin studies going on that are trying to identify a gene or a set of genes that are associated with reading disability. And they have not yet been able to identify any sets of genes or there’s some information there, but it’s very early and not ready to say this causes dyslexia.
